Service Project, Project Linus
On Thursday, November 13, 42 teens from Castle Rock gathered at the Castle
Rock Library from 5:15-7:15 p.m. to participate in a Project Linus service event,
where they made 22 blankets for children in need. The total cost of the event was
$1,106.14, slightly over the $1,000 budget; however, several expenses were for
reusable items such as scissors, rulers, plates, and cutlery that can be used at
future Youth Commission events.
Participating teens represented Teen Court, Teen Advisory Group, Youth
Commission, Colorado Early Colleges Student Government, Castle View Student
Government, and Douglas County High School. Each teen earned two hours of
volunteer time toward graduation and enjoyed coming together to support a
meaningful cause.
