Mr. Dziubla moved to approve the January 2, 2025 minutes. Mr. Morton seconded  
the motion; the motion carried.

Fire Department Report  
PS 2025-002 CRFD December Report

Commission members were emailed a copy of the Fire  
Department’s December report prior to today’s meeting.  
The construction RFP for Station 156 was posted in January. The  
department received eight applications and four have been chosen  
to move forward. Expect to complete the selection in the next  
couple of weeks.

The department is presenting a proposal to Council this month,  
asking to purchase a stock fire truck. International, the company that  
built the internal engines on the department’s three KME’s is no  
longer producing parts. The stock fire truck will serve as a backup  
unit until the replacement fire trucks are received. Delivery of the  
replacement units will take about four years.

The Accreditation Manager and the EVT candidate are in the  
background phase of the hiring process.  
The Department has posted for nine lateral positions for  
Paramedic’s and EMT’s. If the department can not fill these positions  
with lateral hires, the department will hire entry level candidates.  
Where are these postings advertised? The postings are advertised  
through IAFF, social media channels and the Town’s website.  
Chief Croom was asked for an update on the crew that deployed to  
LA. The crew has returned after a 14-day assignment (19 total with  
travel). The Brush truck broke down on the return home and is in  
Las Vegas being repaired. The three-person crew worked Initial  
Attack, mop up, and Search and Rescue. Good experience for the  
crew. Most of the Colorado teams that deployed to California, have  
returned.

The department received notice that retiree Bob Kuehster passed  
away on January 31 at the age of 98. He was a volunteer with our  
department from 1955 to 1983. His funeral will be on Monday,  
February 10 at Creekside Bible Church.

Commission members were emailed a copy of the Police  
Department’s December report prior to today’s meeting.  
The department is hiring post-certified lateral candidates, including a lateral  
dispatcher position. Does the department pay to relocate candidates? No.  
The Department has two Animal Welfare Officer positions to fill. At  
present, Animal Welfare Supervisor Edward Young is the only officer  
on staff. Are these sworn positions? No, they are not. Chief Cauley  
spoke briefly about the division and the contributions made by the  
recently retired Animal Welfare Supervisor.

Does the department use CBI for processing its rape kits and does it  
take 500 days for results? Yes.  
When will the department be opening up the Citizens Police  
Academy registration? The posting will be going out soon. It usually  
fills up fast. The posting will go out on the Town’s website and  
Facebook.

Has the department had any issues with using AI for report  
authoring? No, all officers are required to review their reports once  
drafted.  
Is the Castle Rock Police Department assisting State Patrol with  
stepped up DUI stops this week? No, but patrols will be out locally  
patrolling the neighborhoods.

Does the department have enough money in its budget to  
adequately equip its officers? Yes, it does.  
Did the department purchase any Tesla’s? No, but the department  
has two electric Mustangs.
