Resolution Authorizing a Change Order to the Construction Contract Between the Town of Castle Rock and MW Golden Constructors for the Police Department Improvements Project

Executive Summary
Staff is seeking Town Council approval of a resolution to approve a change order to the construction contract with MW Golden Constructors for the Police Department improvements project (Attachment A). Due to issues with an initial subcontractor, the total contract cost and project timeline needs to be adjusted. This resolution will increase the project cost by $51,105.20 and will extend the project duration by 37 days. This increases the total project amount to $1,829,529.20 and extends the date for substantial completion to July 26, 2023.
Budget Impact
The additional expenditures requested as part of this change order will be funded out of the Police Capital Fund (133-2175-421.78-16). In addition to the change order amount, staff requests to increase the Town-managed contingency by $5,111 related to these costs. If approved, the total contract cost will be $1,829,598.20 plus a revised Town-managed contingency amount of $182,960, for total expenditure authorization of $2,012,558.20.
Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of the resolution to approve a change order to the construction contract with MW Golden Constructors for Police Department improvements as presented.
