Possibilities Playground at Butterfield Park

Executive Summary
In 2016, the Public Art Commission established a Memorandum of Understanding with the Castle Rock Parks and Trails Foundation for the purposes of creating a method for which to obtain contributions. The Commission held an event and through the event and various donations has overtime raised $1,284.75. These funds are still within the Foundation’s account.
The nonprofit is now fundraising for an exciting project called the Possibilities Playground as part of the planned renovations for Butterfield Park. The playground will provide fully-inclusive opportunities for those with special needs.
The Foundation’s Director presented to the Commission in April and members discussed three options for potential collaboration including: designing and issuing a call to help design a donor recognition wall or area; helping guide a design for the colored concrete within the plaza; and using local artists and art to enhance the entryway sign.
No formal action was agreed on and members directed staff to obtain additional information regarding the proposed ideas. Staff will provide an update so further discussions can continue.
