Discussion/Direction: Town Council participation on Douglas County Homeless Initiative

Executive Summary
Douglas County’s Department of Community Development has begun the process of creating a Douglas County Homeless Initiative in order to assess the current status of homelessness in Douglas County. This initiative would determine what the needs and issues related to homelessness are, and make recommendations for services and resources to meet ongoing homeless needs.
There are two groups which will participate in this effort - the Working Group and the Executive Committee. The working group includes subject matter experts, and Castle Rock PD is already working with this group. The Executive Committee will assist in setting policy for the initiative.
Douglas County is asking for a recommendation from the Town as to which Town Council member to invite to participate on the Executive Committee. Douglas County anticipates a commitment of one monthly meeting per year for one year.
The first Douglas County Homeless Initiative Executive Committee meeting is planned for Sept 30, 2021.
