Title
Appointment: Historic Preservation Board
Body
________________________________________________________________________________
Executive Summary
A vacancy recently opened on the Historic Preservation Board after Desiree LaFleur was elected as Town Councilmember. The vacancy was advertised in the Castle Rock News-Press and social media new releases in December and January, and applicants were interviewed on February 10, 2021, by a panel including the Board’s Council Liaison Desiree LaFleur, Chair John Beystehner and Staff Liaison Julie Kirkpatrick. The interview panel is recommending the appointment of Mike Borgelt to fill the vacancy, for a partial term ending May 31, 2022. Mike Borgelt is a forensic architect who has experience in Historic Preservation projects, and the panel unanimously agrees he would be a great fit for the Board.
The Historic Preservation Board works to protect and preserve the history of Castle Rock through recommendations to Town Council for designation of historic structures as landmarks at the local level. The board reviews and approves new construction and design renovation requests within the Craig and Gould neighborhood to maintain the historic and cultural heritage of this area.
