Executive Summary
Staff would like to update the Commission regarding the following items:
2021-2022 Douglas County Art Encounters Program
The call for entries is still open for next year’s program. Kim Smith of Douglas County did express concern related to the number of submissions received to date: as of February 4, 22 entries were submitted. The Public Art Advisory Committee is still scheduled to hold a selection meeting on March 3, and, as a reminder, the Public Art Commission will be meeting on Thursday, February 25 at 4:30 p.m. to review and rank the entries.
Pacific Coast Conservation
Pacific Coast Conservation completed their assessment of the public art inventory the week of January 18. During the assessment, three pieces were unable to be located, including Winter Light, Winter Dawn and Stars for Castle Rock: Shooting Star). PCC plans to attend the Commission’s meeting in March to present their report and draft maintenance plan.
Lumonics
An email was sent to the Public Art Commission for their general consideration, which can be viewed through Attachment B. No action is required at this time.
