Executive Summary

A vacancy recently opened on the Parks and Recreation Commission with the resignation of Korby Smith. The staff liaison reached out to the next eligible candidate, Madeline Self, who was interviewed during the annual Boards & Commission Recruitment in May 2020, by a panel consisting of the Council liaison, Commission Chair, Department Director and staff liaison. The interview panel believes Madeline will be an excellent fit on the Parks and Recreation Commission, and is recommending that Council appoint Madeline Self to fill the vacancy, for a partial term ending May 31, 2022.

The Parks & Recreation Commission makes recommendations to Town Council in regard to the master plan, the three year strategic plan, the annual operating budget and the fee schedules for the Recreation Center, the Miller Activity Complex and the Red Hawk Golf Course. This commission is represented by seven members who are residents of Castle Rock. Meetings are open to the public, and may be attended by one or more Town Council members (designated Council liaisons are Councilmembers Caryn Johnson, and Councilmember Kevin Bracken as alternate). More information on Town Boards and Commissions is available online at www.CRgov.com/boards <http://www.CRgov.com/boards>.
