Executive Summary

In 2018, the Public Art Commission approved the selection of artists Mary Williams and John King for the public art project at Philip S. Miller Park. The artists designed, fabricated, finished, delivered and installed an original kinetic sculpture in 2019, Tree of Wings.

The Commission was hoping to host a dedication event for the new sculpture in spring 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the event was indefinitely postponed and will now be hosted in October as part of Arts and Humanities month.

Staff recommends that the Commission plan out a dedication event and activities for Arts and Humanities month. As discussed in August, activities could include promoting a hashtag such as #IartCastleRock, hosting an Otocast scavenger hunt, promoting engagement through the survey, etc.
