Resolution Ratifying and Approving the Recommendation of the Town Manager for the Director of Public Works for the Town of Castle Rock

Executive Summary
I am very pleased to recommend for Town Council ratification, the appointment of Daniel Sailer as the Town’s new Director of Public Works.
Prior to coming to Castle Rock, Dan served six years in the United States Air Force where he held several civil engineering positions at three different military installations along with multiple emergency operations positions to handle combat engineering needs. Dan received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland and his Master’s Degree for the University of Colorado - Denver in Civil Engineering.
In 2001, Dan was hired by the Town of Castle Rock Public Works department as the Transportation Engineering Manager, promoted to Engineering Manager in January 2012, then to Assistant Director of Public Works in October 2012. Dan has been instrumental in numerous public works projects, including the North Meadows extension and I-25 Interchange and the department’s APWA Accreditation.
Dan was appointed as the interim Director of Public Works for the Town of Castle Rock in June 2019 after the previous Director retired. A national search for the Director position was conducted, and we received numerous qualified applications indicating the strength of our award-winning department and the desirability of Castle Rock. Through the interview process, Dan stood out as the best qualified candidate and was the clear choice for our community demonstrating his energy, enthusiasm for the Public Works profession, expertise, and desire to take Castle Rock Public Works to even higher achievements.
We are confident that Dan will be an outstanding Public Works Director and member of the Town’s leadership team; and on behalf of the Town staff, we all look forward to working with Dan.
