Title
Discussion/Direction: Placement of the Rock Paint-by-numbers
Body

Executive Summary
The Public Art Commission attended the 2019 Artfest to generate interest and community awareness around public art in Castle Rock. At the table, Commissioners hosted a paint-by-numbers of the Rock, which can be referenced in Attachment A.
At its September meeting, the Commission decided to frame the painting of the Rock and to reach out to the Douglas County Philip S. Miller Library to see if they have any interest in displaying the piece. Stephanie Brueggemann kindly volunteered her time to contact the library and research back-up options since the library did not have the long-term feasibility to display the piece. Following Stephanie’s follow-up, Castle Rock Adventist Hospital expressed interest in featuring the piece on the first floor near the staircase. This location, an image of which can be referenced in Attachment B, would be visible from the front entrance and reception area. As noted in Stephanie’s email update, Attachment C, it may be possible to hang the painting prior to the end of November.
In addition, Stephanie explored various plaque options, which could be printed, attached to a mat board and installed with putty. These options can be referenced in Attachment D.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommend that the Commission discuss the placement of the Rock paint-by-numbers and provide direction as appropriate.
