Tree of Wings Project Update

Executive Summary
In 2018, the Public Art Commission approved the selection of artists Mary Williams and John King for the public art project at Philip S. Miller Park. The artists will design, fabricate, finish, deliver and install an original kinetic sculpture in 2019, Tree of Wings.
At the October meeting, the Commission finalized the general color scheme, which can be referenced in Attachment A. Electrical work was slightly delayed due to snowfall, but is still underway. Lights have been ordered and the foundation will be poured once the light housings are received. The foundation pour will likely occur the last week of November or first week of December, weather permitting. The artists have requested 10 days following the pour to allow the concrete to set prior to installation. The artists have initiated painting prep and have confirmed that the piece will be ready for placement mid-December.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Commission discuss potential dedication days/times given the proximity of the project’s completion.
