Per Commissioners request, staff is providing a brief summary regarding the current state of the Public Art Fund.
In May 2019, the balance of the Public Art Fund’s 2019 Amended Budget was $80,000 with additional revenues of $21,280. This year, the Commission anticipates spending a total of $76,317:
• $50,000 on the Philip S. Miller Park Art Project, Tree of Wings
• $19,975 on the purchase of Thought of a Treble Clef
• $342 for a plaque for Thought of a Treble Clef
• $4,750 on the 2019-2020 Art Encounters program (which budgets $4,000 for artists stipends, $250 for judging and $500 for awards and plaques)
• $1,250 was allotted as a donation to the Castle Rock Museum to commission a watercolor painting
According to the most recent Castle Rock Parks and Trails Foundation report, the Public Art Commission has an additional $1,284.75 available in donations. When using these funds, the selection of artwork for parks shall be at the discretion of the Foundation, provided however, members from the Town of Castle Rock’s Public Art Commission shall assist the Foundation in the selection of the artwork.
