This year’s annual Artfest event will be held on Sept. 7 and 8 in Downtown Castle Rock. After discussion, the Commission decided it would be worthwhile to attend Artfest to increase public awareness of art in the Castle Rock community and of the Public Art Commission and its website.
At its June meeting, it was discussed that the Commission could potentially purchase a step-and-repeat banner (example in Attachment A) to maximize interaction with the public at the event. For the design of the banner, the Commission was drawn to the idea of using an iconic image unique to Castle Rock, such as the Rock, the Star, etc. The banner could be used at other future events or maybe Town-wide special events as well.
The Commission also decided to order a 2-foot by 10-foot banner to connect to an easy tent and to feature the print of the Castle Rock Museum on an easel.
The Commission discussed a list of items to bring, including handouts with a QR code (example in Attachment B), Art Encounter brochures, a table, chairs, a table cloth, rugs or turf for standing and a signup sheet to receive the contact information of artists.
The Commission plans to continue this discussion at its July meeting.
