Executive Summary
Per Commissioners request, staff is providing a brief summary regarding the current state of the Public Art Fund.
At the close of December, 2018, the Year to Date actual of the Public Art Fund was $63,727. At the beginning of 2019, an additional $25,000 was appropriated to the Public Art Fund from the Philip S. Miller Trust Fund.
This year the Commission anticipates spending $50,000 on the Philip S. Miller Park Art Project and approximately $5,550 on the 2019-2020 Art Encounters program, which budgets $4,800 for artists stipends, $250 for judging and $500 for awards and plaques.
According to the most recent Castle Rock Parks and Trails Foundation report, the Public Art Commission has an additional $1,284.75 available in donations. When using these funds, the selection of artwork for parks shall be at the discretion of the Foundation, provided however, members from the Town of Castle Rock’s Public Art Commission shall assist the Foundation in the selection of the artwork.
