Discussion

Community Relations creates communication plans for Town projects and initiatives that require public education. Each plan establishes the key messages to be communicated related to a project, as well as the communications tools to be used, including social media, printed materials and videos.

The division presently has 11 active communication plans:

November charter election (draft mailer is in Attachment A)

                     2019 Budget

                     Wolfensberger roundabout

                     Plum Creek design feedback

                     Millers Landing landfill remediation

                     Your Tax Dollars at Work

                     Redistricting

                     Pavement Maintenance Program

                     Rock Watch

                     Castle of Terror

                     Tunes for Trails/Perks for Parks

Additionally, there are at least four communication plans on the horizon in the near term, including plans regarding the Fire Department’s strategic plan and the Recreation Center’s 30th anniversary celebration.

Staff is glad to provide Council additional information regarding any current or upcoming communication plans as requested.

Community Relations staff in August distributed 10 news releases and 12 email newsletters and approved 57 updates on the Town’s three websites. Additionally, the team completed production on five website/social media videos. Following are some social media statistics from August:
