Discussion
The Public Art Plan adopted in 2017 includes the goal: Commission a new public art project at Philip S. Miller Park to deepen the visitor experience. The plan recommends allocating $40,000 for this purpose. The plan further recommends working with Parks and Recreation to develop project criteria, such as placement, scale and type of art.
The Commission in June finalized a call for entries related to this project, which was open from mid-June through July 31. Five proposals were received in response to the call. They are attached for the Commission’s review and discussion at the August meeting.
Financial Information
The Commission has identified that up to $50,000 should be spent on this project.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Commission review the proposals received and provide staff any resulting direction.
