Overall Comments
Castle Rock Community Relations has developed a proposed Community Engagement Plan for Council, staff and the community. For every topic engaged by the Town, there is a Communication Plan that sets a goal, defines the audience, prioritizes and creates key messages. These plans drive strategy and will sharpen the focus on the tactic, tools and platforms needed. The attached draft engagement plan details our communication and engagement protocols (Attachment A).
Community engagement and providing timely and accurate information to the public and business owners is a Town priority. As a full-service municipality in a rapidly growing community, the complexity and speed of issues and information that flows through the organization and community continues to grow exponentially.
People have a wide range of communication preferences. The most effective communication practices include a consistent message and can incorporate multiple platforms and tools. The expectation of getting information to the public in several different formats also continues to grow with the evolution of technology.
To that end, the Town utilizes a wide range of communication tools. They include news releases, printed materials, direct mail, website, email, social media, videos and opportunities to meet face to face with interested parties. Beyond a strong portfolio of tools, Community Relations uses distinct strategies for providing information to the public.
The attached plan is comprehensive; it reflects best practices, benchmarking and defines strategy based upon the issue and level of communication needed in any given circumstance. We look forward to continued discussion with Council on engagement and quality communication with our residents and business community.
