Executive Summary

Santa’s Second Chance is a community program that buys gifts for children in need during the holiday season. This year marks the 20th year for the program, which was started by Castle Rock resident Terry Foose Williams.

The program raises funds by allowing people ticketed for traffic violations during the pre-holiday period to donate their fines to buy gifts. That method raised $10,000 for this year’s program. Additionally, Municipal Court staff obtained a $2,500 grant from Walmart toward the program.

The funds will allow volunteers to shop for gifts for children-in-need at the Castle Rock Walmart on Saturday, December 2. In total, about 350 children will receive gifts this year through this program and through the Police Department’s Heroes and Helpers (30) and Project Recycle (9) programs, as well as through individual “adoptions” by Town employees (68).

The purpose of this item is to provide Council a brief presentation featuring photos and other information from this year’s Santa’s Second Chance event.
