Executive Summary
The Public Works Department was awarded a 2017 Colorado American Public Works Association (APWA) annual award for our Plum Creek Parkway Intersection Improvement Project; specifically the implementation of an Active Traffic Management System (ATMS). APWA would like to recognize the Town’s efforts and present this award at the December 5, Town Council meeting. I’m requesting your approval for a Colorado APWA Chapter Board member to conduct a brief presentation ceremony during the Town Manager’s Report portion of the meeting.
Each year the Colorado APWA Chapter provides annual awards for the best projects and programs across the state in various categories. This project was submitted under the Transportation category which focused on four criteria:
• Innovation - Were unique methods used to provide better service to the public?
• Achievement - Did the project achieve all set goals?
• Transferable - Could the improvement be used in other communities or situations?
• Cooperation - Was there special cooperation between stakeholders?
Attached you will find the award submission which summarizes the project and how it met the criteria for the award. The Public Works Department works hard to find creative solutions to transportation challenges and is proud to cooperate with all of our stakeholders to manage successful projects that benefit the traveling public.
