Executive Summary

To further motivate residents to conserve water, a Castle Rock-specific conservation website was created in 2010 with a grant from the Colorado Water Conservation Board. Our customers have embraced conservation, reducing per person consumption by 20 percent. Our goal is another 20 percent and to help our customers reach that goal, we have updated the CRconserve.com website and added several interactive features. The updates not only lists tips on how to conserve indoors, outdoors and with irrigation, but what the Town is doing and why. With up to 50 percent of our water consumption going to the outdoor landscape, the interactive tools are focused on irrigation. These tools are specific to Castle Rock and include 1) four neighborhood weather stations with historical data, 2) a water-efficient Xeric Plant Finder to assist with planning a water efficient landscape (xeriscape), and 3) a Run-Time Calculator to help in programming the appropriate time for irrigation.

History of Past Town Council, Boards & Commissions, or Other Discussions

On February 22 and March 22, 2017, the Castle Rock Water Commission was given an opportunity to view the new site. Their comments were favorable and overall thought that the interactive features would be beneficial to our customers.
