Executive Summary
The Council Community Grant Program (CCGP) has an annual budget of $8,000 funded by the Town Council Non-profit Grant Account in the General Fund. Funds for the grants are disbursed quarterly in $2,000 increments to non-profit organizations within the Castle Rock community. Individual grants cap out at $500 per request. The Town of Castle Rock Finance Department receives the applications, reviews them for eligibility and presents the grant requests to Council. Two (2) qualified applications were received for the 2nd Quarter CCGP (Attachment A):

The purpose of this memo is to present these applications to Council for consideration and approval.
Discussion
The Council Community Grant Program is funded by monies from the General Fund. Council Community Grant Program funds are for specific nonprofit organizations for community based projects. Applications may be submitted on an as-needed basis and will be reviewed quarterly.
Eligible project areas for CCGP include projects which contribute to Castle Rock’s “quality of life” with special emphasis on:
• youth programs and activities
• senior programs and activities
• community based environmental and sustainability programs and activities
• community based performing and visual arts programs and activities
Applications not approved in the previous quarter would still be subject to approval upon resubmission by the applicant if the request remains valid upon the next quarterly review.
A list of organizations and the amounts awarded for the 2014-2016 Council Community Grant Program are presented in (Attachment B).
Brief Overview of Applications:
Project Recycle is requesting $500. The funds are being requested to purchase bike helmets, bike Locks, water bottles and bike parts.
Eligible Project Area: Youth program and activities
Castle View Orchestra is requesting $500. The funds are being requested to purchase music for their 10th Anniversary Season.
Eligible Project Area: Community based performing visual arts programs and activities
Budget Considerations
The 2016 budget includes $8,000 ($2,000 available per quarter) in the Town Council Non-profit Grant Account in the General Fund for the 2016 Council Community Grant Program.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends Council approve a $500 award to the two non-profits presented in this grant cycle.
