Executive Summary

Who has the tastiest water in the Rocky Mountain region? According to the judges at a taste test at the September 2015 Rocky Mountain Section of the American Water Works Association (RMSAWWA) annual conference in Loveland, Colorado, Castle Rock Water has the best water in the region, including Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming. Nine municipalities from a three state region competed for the title of best drinking water based on taste, odor and appearance. As the winner of this competition, Castle Rock Water will represent the RMSAWWA at the national “Best of the Best” taste test at the AWWA Conference in Chicago next June.

Again, Castle Rock Water took first place, East Cherry Creek Valley Water and Sanitation District came in second, and Denver Water and Aurora Water tied for third place. This event is held annually. This was Castle Rock’s first time entering in the competition against the likes of Denver Water and other State utility leaders.

Castle Rock Water is pleased to present to Town Council a “taste” of the best water in Colorado, and to recognize our water operators - Andrew Dieter; Laura Giezen; Randy Mullins; Ken Timm; Juan Aldaba; John Ferguson; Tim Lambert, Water Treatment Supervisor; and David Montgomery, Treatment Services Superintendent for bringing this great tasting water to our customers, 24 hours a day, seven days a week through their hard work and dedication.

The RMSAWWA is the regional section of the AWWA, which is the largest non-profit, science-based organization for drinking water professionals in the world. The RMSAWWA covers Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico and has over 2,400 members, representing water utilities, engineering consultants and water treatment specialty firms.
