Executive Summary
District 6 Councilmember Tim Dietz has requested that the Town Council consider passage of an ordinance amending the Town Code for the purpose of increasing the compensation of the Mayor and Town Councilmembers. The rate of compensation for Town councilmembers has not increased since April 2008. The proposed new monthly salaries are as follows:
Mayor $1,500.00
Mayor Pro-Tem $1,250.00
Councilmember $1,200.00
Article XII, Section 11 of the Colorado Constitution prohibits the salary of any elected public officer from being increased or decreased during the term of office for which said officer was elected. Accordingly, any increases in compensation provided for by this ordinance will only take effect upon election, reelection, or appointment of a new or incumbent elected official to a new term of office.
