Executive Summary
The Your Town Academy program was offered to the community again this year. The eight-week class aims to “increase governmental transparency by increasing community awareness about Town operations.”
A class of 30 residents and business owners was recruited this summer. Classes kicked off Aug. 14.
Since then, the class has learned about all aspects of how the Town operates.
Tonight, we recognize our graduating students - some of whom are here in person, and some of whom are attending online:

The class received surveys each week to provide feedback on the program. Again this year, their comments were overall positive and provided the project team helpful guidance on making the program even better in the future. Following is a sampling of the participant feedback received:
“The entire presentation along with the demonstrations of the tools that the Police department have at their disposal was amazing. I do feel safer living in Castle Rock after seeing this presentation.”
“I have always had high respect for fireman and this class just increased that. This is a tough job and I’m grateful we have great people in our town doing it.”
“We were amazed at the quality of the Public Works equipment and Technology. Really liked the whole evening.”
“The trainings/food/details/management are all great---AND---I actually believe and feel the sincerity of/about transparency & and the sincere desire for overall competence. I never expect perfection---but what I see/feel/hear makes me feel comforted we picked Castle Rock.”
Staff plans to offer Your Town Academy again in 2024. Applications will again be solicited in summer for a class beginning in the fall. Updates will be posted at CRgov.com/YTA.
