Discussion

Lieutenant/Paramedic Jason Butts is being recognized for his successful completion of the Executive Fire Officer program at the National Fire Academy, and is only the third person in the Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department to complete this program.

From the USFA website. “The National Fire Academy’s (NFA) Executive Fire Officer Program (EFOP) provides senior fire officers with a broad perspective on various facets of fire and emergency services administration. The courses and accompanying research examine how to exercise leadership when dealing with difficult or unique problems within communities.”

The EFO program consists of four graduate level courses, each delivered as a two-week on campus course, over a four year period.  At the completion of each class, an applied research project that relates to the department is due within six months of the last day of class.  This rigorous program has specific classes that address executive development, community risk reduction, fire service operations in emergency management and executive leadership.

Therefore, Lieutenant/Paramedic Jason Butts is being presented his certificate of completion, issued by Administrator Ernest Mitchell of the United States Fire Administration (USFA) and Acting Superintendent Kirby Keifer of the National Fire Academy (NFA), which confers upon him the title of Executive Fire Officer.

Congratulations Jason!
