Executive Summary
The Castle Rock Youth Commission provides high school students in grades 9 to 12 an opportunity to engage with and learn about local government, participate in decision making, and represent the needs of the community's youth. Serving in an advisory capacity to the Town Council, the Commission will be tasked with identifying ways to increase youth involvement in local government; communicating Commission activities and opportunities to the community; organizing service projects and events that benefit the youth of Castle Rock; and developing recognition programs to celebrate the achievements of local youth, fostering a sense of community engagement and support.
The purpose of tonight’s agenda item is to request Council’s appointment of the 2025-2026 Youth Commissioners. (Attachment A), The Commission will consist of nine members, initially appointed with staggered terms so that five are appointed for two-year terms and four are appointed for one-year terms. If approved, the new Commission members will briefly introduce themselves to Council and the community this evening.
Regular meetings for the Commission will be held on the second Monday of each month, excluding June, July and August, except on Town holidays or Douglas County School District school closures. All regular meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall, 100 N. Wilcox St., unless otherwise designated, and are open to the public.
