Executive Summary
On September 24th and October 1st, the Castle Rock Fire Department conducted its 10th annual Paint-a-thon. Through this program the department selects applicants who meet the low income, disability, or need requirement thresholds. This year, two applicants were selected and their homes painted over the two day period. One house was located at 3799 Licorice Trail in the Meadows, and the other was a mobile home located at 5 Jason Street in original Castle Rock. Over 70 volunteers assisted in the painting of the homes. Home Depot donated paint for the house on Jason St., Star Quality Painting and Decorating sprayed the house on Licorice Trail, and Sky Ridge Hospital sponsored the paint for the Licorice Trail house as well as materials and food for both days.
Through this combined effort, our town was beautified, home owners received desperately needed help, and our community members of all ages provided unified service.
Channel 7 news ran a news brief on the program on September 24th.
Notification and Outreach Efforts
Volunteers and applicants are sought from throughout the community beginning in July through Volunteer Connect, the Douglas Elbert Taskforce, and the Castle Rock Senior Center.
