Proclamation:  Mayor’s Conservation Challenge to Fill the Rock

Body

________________________________________________________________________________

Executive Summary

The purpose of this proclamation is to recognize and make proclamation for the Mayor’s Challenge to Fill the Rock which is scheduled to begin on April 1, 2016. To take the receptive conservation culture of the Town a step further, Castle Rock Water introduces the Mayor’s Conservation Challenge to Fill the Rock. During the month of April, resident are asked to make a free, online pledge regarding individual conservation efforts. The pledge is sponsored by the Wyland Foundation, National League of Cities and the Environmental Protection Agency, among others who provide a friendly competition between mayors nationwide to challenge their residents to conserve water, energy and other natural resources on behalf of their city. While the national challenge ranks and rewards cities for their participation, the Town will use the water savings calculated from the pledges to “fill” our namesake, Castle Rock. Traditional outreach methods such as Town Talk, social media and posters will be used to reach residents and the residents will be routed through our Town website, CRgov.com, to get to the MyWaterPledge.com. The volume of the Rock will be announced through social media and at the annual Spring Up the Creek event on May 7, 2016.
