Executive Summary
Staff requests that the annual Arbor Day Proclamation (Attachment A) be considered as an agenda item at the Tuesday, April 7, 2026 Town Council meeting. Mayor Jason Gray will read the proclamation to proclaim April 17, 2026 as Arbor Day, as Colorado’s Arbor Day is always the third Friday of the month.
For over thirty years, the Town of Castle Rock has maintained its status as a Tree City USA Community, along with over 3,400 cities and towns across the country. These communities work with the Arbor Day Foundation to demonstrate they meet the standards of sound urban forestry management. The Parks and Recreation Department organizes volunteer outings to plant trees throughout Castle Rock and to celebrate the benefits of trees and the work accomplished to maintain them each April.
