Discussion
This request is to approve a contract with Stryker to replace all cardiac monitors in the fire and rescue department.
Our current monitors have exceeded their expected end of life (ten years), and our current LifePak 15 monitors will start to be no longer supported by Stryker due to age and model year. The monitors were originally scheduled to be replaced in 2022, but this was pushed to this year due to a new model being released. The new monitors will provide our department with the most current technology, more accurate diagnostic tools - including improved diagnosis when the medic unit is moving, more complete integrated communications with the receiving hospitals, and more accurate reporting with wireless connection with our current reporting software. The monitors also integrate with all of the Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) that are deployed throughout Town facilities.
Replacing all of our equipment at once will allow for a more efficient deployment and streamlined training among our personnel. The Town would take possession of the equipment in 2024, helping minimize equipment issues because the Department would not need to maintain multiple systems.
Budget Impact
The purchase of the monitors is covered in the General Long Term Planning Fund, 136-1850-418.70-30, Capital Outlay Machinery & Equipment at a total cost is $723,696.16.
