Executive Summary

The American Heart Association’s (AHA) Mission: Lifeline program recognizes EMS agencies not only for the level of medical care that is provided to victims suffering from a ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), which is a type of heart attack, but also on the collaboration with hospitals designated as STEMI Receiving Centers to improve the overall quality of care for STEMI patients in the entire system of care.

The Fire and Rescue Department is being recognized with a Bronze Award, which means the Department met specific measurement criteria for at least one calendar quarter.  Centura and Castle Rock Adventist submitted the Department for this award, and this is the first time the Department has received this award.  In order to earn Silver, the Department must meet the criteria for one calendar year, and for Gold, the Department must have earned the Silver level for two consecutive calendar years.  The Department is working to earn the Silver Award for next year.
