Executive Summary
Staff is seeking Council direction on the 2026 Council Meeting Schedule. Attached is a listing of all regularly scheduled meetings for the year and proposed changes, with notes indicating holidays or special events for consideration.
The schedule proposes calling a Special Council Meeting on May 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., as is traditionally scheduled each year for the purpose of holding interviews with candidates for Town Boards and Commissions during annual recruitment. Another proposed change is to reschedule the March 17, 2026, regular meeting to March 24, for Councilmembers’ attendance at the National League of Cities Conference and observance of Douglas County School District Spring Break. And the first Tuesday in August is National Night Out, an event recognizing law enforcement members and first responders in our community, so the August 4 Council Meeting is proposed to be canceled to allow Council participation in that event.
Proposed Motion
“I move to approve the 2026 Council Meeting Schedule as outlined in the staff’s memo, to include the following changes:
- Call a Special Meeting on May 12, 2026, starting at 5:00 p.m. at Town Hall, for Boards and Commissions Interviews;
- Cancel the regular Meeting on March 17, 2026, to reschedule to March 24;
- Call a Special Meeting on March 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., at Town Hall, in place of the March 17 regular Meeting; and,
- Cancel the regular meeting on August 4, 2026, for National Night Out.”
