Perspective Donation and Artwork Accession Process Update

Executive Summary
At its August meeting, the Public Art Commission discussed the proposed donation of Perspective, an original watercolor by Castle Rock artist Cindy Welch-Marten, and provided direction regarding the development of clearer criteria and procedures for accepting artwork into the Town’s collection.
Welch-Marten has since notified staff that she donated Perspective to Brookside Inn, where her mother resides in memory care. The painting has been installed in the facility’s front lobby and will be dedicated in honor of her mother. No further Commission consideration of the proposed donation is necessary.
Vice Chair Katie Gasper previously volunteered to prepare draft accession criteria and an updated process/policy for Commission review. Staff will coordinate with Katie regarding the timing of a future discussion.
No Commission discussion or action is scheduled.
