Executive Summary
At the June meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission, Assistant Director Jeff Smullen will present the draft Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan for 2025-2027. The plan outlines the department’s direction over the next three years and includes strategic goals and measurable objectives across all divisions, including Parks Maintenance and Operations, Planning and Construction, Recreation, Golf and Administration. It also highlights funding sources, key challenges, and alignment with the Town’s 2030 Comprehensive Master Plan.
Commission members will have an opportunity to review the plan’s framework - including the strategic themes, divisional priorities and proposed initiatives - and provide general feedback during this preliminary phase. A full public engagement period is also underway featuring a dedicated webpage, online survey and open hours for the public to speak to staff in person.
Staff anticipates returning in August 2025 to seek the commission’s official endorsement of the final plan following the public comment period. The commission’s feedback and insight during this process are greatly appreciated as we work to advance a shared vision for the future of Castle Rock’s parks, trails, recreation facilities, and open spaces.
